Tesco is now offering the basic 6-inch screen wi-fi Kindle for only €82. The price is about €5 cheaper than shipping the device via Amazon.com but represents a premium of €3 or €4 to the price in Hodges Figgis.
Waterstones and Hodges Figgis are selling the same basic Kindle starting at €79 alongside the Kindle Paperwhite.
The price does mean however that the basic Kindle is even cheaper than the forthcoming Eason Leaf which Eason is selling for €99 and the Kobo mini which is retailing in Hughes & Hughes stores (as reported earlier on Irish Publishing News) for on €89.95.
Tesco will also sell the Kindle Touch for €129.
The offers represent a significant discount to the prices offered last year for the now outdated kindle models. The basic Kindle was for sale for €115 in 2011 while the Kindle Keyboard with 3G was for sale for €195.
